Protection against Static Electricity
In the petrochemical and the gas industry, workers are often exposed to explosive and flammable atmosphere.
A little spark in such locations can have fatal consequences & cause damage to life and property. Even the atmospheric humidity may influence electric discharge. In dry environments the effect of static charges can
be highly destructive. An appropriate antistatic yarn used in the protective clothing prevents built up of static electricity.
The different options of FR Antistatic protective clothing offered by TaraSafe® are:
- Homogeneous Material/Intimate blend with steel and carbon fibre.
- Inhomogeneous material/ Grid pattern with carbon fibre.
The Electrostatic Dissipative material shall meet at least one of the following requirements :
EN 1149-1
Test method for measurement of surface resistivity (for surface conductors only).
Surface resistance tested shall be less than or equal to 2.5 X 109Ω
EN 1149-3
Test method for measurement of charge decay (suitable for core and surface
conductors). Half Decay Time - t50 < 4 seconds and/or Shielding factor - S > 0.2
